Vacaya vs Atlantis Events: Which is right for you?

When you’re looking to book a cruise, especially if it’s your first time going on one, it can be overwhelming to know where to begin. There are multiple LGBTQ+ cruise lines to choose from, but how do you know which ones make the most sense for you?

Two of the most popular cruises are Vacaya and Atlantis Events, but how do they compare? Both have a lot of great things to offer travelers, but it depends on what you’re looking for and what you value in an ocean getaway.

Do you want to book a cruise but aren’t sure if you want to go with Vacaya or Atlantis Events?

Keep reading to find out which cruise line, Vacaya or Atlantis Events, will be best suited for your dream cruise adventure based on these metrics.

Destinations

Although both Vacaya and Atlantis offer large and small cruises, the two differ in the locations they travel to and the variety of countries.

Vacaya has eight destination options that take you all over the world. From the Greek Isles, Venice, the Caribbean, and Central America to Antarctica, Norwegian Fjords, Polynesia, and Ancient Wonders.

Atlantis offers fewer destinations and focuses instead on specific regions. Their voyages include a Spanish Summer Mediterranean cruise, an Odyssey Mediterranean Cruise, Stockholm to Copenhagen (that stops at six different countries), LA to Mexico, a Northern Caribbean Cruise, and a Southern Caribbean Cruise.

Experiences

Another thing that differentiates Atlantis Events and Vacaya is the different experiences they offer guests. Atlantis Events prides itself on a vibrant partying atmosphere; Vacaya takes a more “balanced” approach with all-night ragers and an opportunity to better connect with the land and cultures you’re visiting.

Diversity

One of the most significant differences between Vacaya and Atlantis Events is the clientele they serve. Atlantis Events typically caters to gay men; however, their website shared that women represent between 5 and 10% of their guests.

For Vacaya, inclusivity of the entire LGBTQ+ community is the number one priority. They champion being comfortable in your own skin and celebrate every LGBTQ+ identity and its intersection with race. Vacaya is working to strengthen its support of the Black Lives Matter movement with the Black Voices tab on its webpage.

Solo Travel

If you’re traveling alone, both Vacaya and Atlantis have options to support you too! Atlantis has a room-share program to make traveling solo more affordable and a limited number of single rooms if you prefer a single-occupancy space.

Vacaya has an online Facebook group dedicated to solo travelers called “Solo Travelers Playground,” where guests can connect with other travelers looking for a roommate. The group allows guests to talk with prospective roommates ahead of the cruise. Although for travelers who prefer not to share, there is also the option for a guest to pay both halves of a standard double occupancy room, plus fees.

Additions

Along with cruises, both Vacaya and Atlantis also offer resort experiences centered around their LGBTQ+ guests. Vacaya has one in Puerto Vallarta while Atlantis has one in Michès Playa Esmeralda and another in Cancun.
