I rarely had vacations growing up, so by the time I entered college, I had barely been to a handful of states and only by car. My 2nd ever airplane trip was to France for a semester abroad. I spent the first few days in Paris, and the night I visited the Eiffel Tower, the view from the top was crystal clear, which rarely happens. I awoke to snow on the ground the following day, also a Paris rarity, and I took both as signs that travel was my coup de coeur, a French phrase about falling in love with something/someone at first sight.
